The lady who filed the police report was arrested on charges of misleading officials, mishandling a deceased body, and running an illicit gambling operation.
Police said they received a report from a woman who claimed to be a passer-by at 12.42am on Saturday that a man had collapsed outside a hair salon on Yee Kuk Street in Kowloon.
The 65-year-old was unresponsive and taken to Caritas Medical Centre, where he was later pronounced dead. According to the force, the cause of death will be determined following a postmortem examination.
After checking security footage, officers discovered that the deceased’s body had been relocated from a nearby building to outside the salon and suspected that the woman who filed the report provided false information to the police.
