4 arrested after chase of Tesla carrying drugs leaves 2 Hong Kong officers hurt

A Tesla loaded with cannabis products and “space oil” ignored a roadblock in a busy district in Hong Kong on Sunday morning and collided head-on with a police vehicle after a high-speed chase, injuring two officers.

Three men and a woman, aged between 20 and 23, who were in the Tesla, were arrested on suspicion of trafficking suspected cannabis products and space oil.

The 23-year-old male driver also faces charges of “furious driving” and driving under the influence after failing a breathalyser test.

Police reported that officers noticed the driver of the Tesla acting suspiciously at a roadblock on Chatham Road South in Tsim Sha Tsui around 5am on Easter Sunday. When approached, the vehicle sped off towards Sha Tin in the New Territories.

During the pursuit, the Tesla collided with the police vehicle near Chun Yeung Estate in Fo Tan as officers attempted to stop it.

The officer driving the police vehicle reported knee pain, while the officer in the passenger seat suffered neck pain. Both were sent to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.
