U.S.-China Space War on the Brink of Eruption

In March 2025, China conducted a high-profile space exercise, deploying five high-altitude GEO satellites, with 36,000 km altitude, in a maneuver aimed directly at U.S. military assets. The satellites, believed to be part of the “Shijian” series, did not mark a new launch but were part of a military drill focused on the WGS communication satellites and SBIRS early-warning satellites. The exercise raised concerns within the U.S. military, with experts warning that China’s growing space capabilities could pose a serious threat to U.S. operations in the region.
