The animals’ carcasses were discovered in Sau Mau Ping and Kowloon Bay on Tuesday.
A passer-by alerted police after discovering the body of an adult red-eared slider, a popular pet in Hong Kong, on Hiu Kwong Street in Sau Mau Ping at around 6.40am.
The 15-cm (5.9-inch) turtle was found mutilated, raising suspicions that it might have fallen from a great height.
Officers at the scene covered the carcass with a bucket while waiting for members from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to arrive to collect the remains.

The case has been classified as animal cruelty, though no arrests have been made so far.
