4 people injured after 3-vehicle crash in Hong Kong tunnel, 1 driver flees

Four people have been injured in a Hong Kong tunnel after a car collided head-on with a taxi and flipped it over, leading another vehicle to crash into the cab from behind.

Police received a report at 4.04am on Monday and said the driver of the car which had hit the cab fled the scene at Shing Mun Tunnel on foot following the accident, leaving his vehicle behind.

According to police, a car heading towards Tsuen Wan collided head-on with a taxi going in the opposite direction towards Sha Tin. Another car behind the overturned cab was unable to stop and consequently crashed into its rear.

The 53-year old cabby reported pain in the chest while the passenger on board, a 63-year-old man, suffered abrasions on his head and face.

The driver in the vehicle behind the cab, a 41-year-old woman, suffered from neck pain while a 27-year-old passenger in her car had wounds on his hands.

All the injured were sent variously to Yan Chai Hospital in Tsuen Wan, Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung and Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin.
