In a reply to the Post, the Airport Authority said dozens of construction workers gathered near the Airport South Interchange on Friday morning over labour disputes.
“[The authority] immediately deployed staff to the scene and reported it to police. Due to the incident, traffic near the interchange was affected,” its spokesman said, adding that bus companies were informed and traffic diversions arranged.
“Traffic on the relevant roads resumed to normal from 10.15am.”
The authority said it would closely monitor the follow-up actions by the main contractor.

“[The authority] is highly concerned about the incident and demanded that Gammon Construction, the main contractor, should settle the issue promptly and properly, and ensure that all the workers receive their wages accordingly,” it said.
A video posted online shows a group of workers holding signs with slogans and walking to the traffic lane, forcing some cars to stop and move backwards.
