Police said on Friday that a taxi driver, surnamed Cheung, was injured in an assault at the junction of Pine Tree Hill Road and Hillwood Road in Tsim Sha Tsui at 7.32am. Investigations are under way.
The victim was transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei with injuries to his hand, ear, head and back.

Cheng Hak-wo, vice-chairman of Hong Kong Taxi Council and founder of Chung Shing Taxi firm, told the Post that the attackers “should definitely be condemned”.
“Such an assault and terrible attitude will scare drivers,” Cheng said. “This is rare. Police should step up enforcement and protection for drivers.”
He said all cars had monitoring systems and cameras installed, adding such treatment “displayed a despicable attitude”.

According to the force, the assault took place after one of the four people failed to flag down the taxi. One of them then stopped the vehicle and slapped the driver.
