On July 6, 2026, for tens of thousands of villagers living downstream from Liulan Reservoir in Hengzhou, Guangxi, it became a dark day that felt like the end of the world. At around 9 a.m., the reservoir, which held nearly 100 million cubic meters of water, collapsed. Floodwaters surged downstream. Several villages directly in front of the dam were instantly overwhelmed by the disaster.
