This unique therapy is practised by the Dai ethnic group in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture in Yunnan province, southwestern China.

Doctors first prescribe fresh or dried Dai herbal medicines based on the patient’s physical condition, then mix and heat the herbs before having the patient sleep in the warmed mixture.

The patient is then wrapped with the warm herbs in an oil cloth to allow the heat to spread throughout their entire body.
