The suspects, aged 25 to 37, were apprehended in an operation conducted by the Kowloon East enforcement and control division and detained at its regional headquarters on Sunday and Monday. They are suspected of speeding, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without third-party insurance.

One private car was caught travelling at nearly 170 km/h on Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Road, where the speed limit is 70 km/h.

All arrestees have been released on bail and are required to report to police in early December.

“The traffic department of the Kowloon East Regional Headquarters will continue to step up enforcement against illegal vehicle modifications, speeding, dangerous driving and other traffic violations,” police said, adding that conviction could result in imprisonment and licence disqualification.
