Typhoon Maysak and its remnants kept affecting Guangxi. They brought heavy rain to the area since July 4. Water levels in major reservoirs went up fast. Some reservoirs began releasing water. Yet their old earth embankments could not stand the force. On July 6, the dam at Liulan Reservoir in Hengzhou, Guangxi broke suddenly. It left a gap about 50 meters long.
