In southwestern China’s Sichuan province, locals consume about 95 per cent of the country’s rabbits.

This has led to a joke that no rabbit can leave Sichuan alive. Besides the plant-eating mammals’ meat, local people also like eating its head which is usually cooked with chilli oil and hot pepper.

Rabbit heads, which are sold for between 10 and 20 yuan each (US$1.4 and US$2.8), is a common street snack, usually accompanied by beer.
