Firefighters found the victims – an 80-year-old man, a 53-year-old man and the boy – unconscious in the kitchen and toilet of the third-floor flat at Kin Wong Mansion on Sai Yee Street near Argyle Street shortly after the blaze was reported at about 11.10pm on Thursday.

They were rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital, where they were later certified dead.

A 75-year-old woman who was calling for help near the flat window was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital after inhaling dense smoke.

Police investigations revealed that the boy was the woman’s great-grandson, while the other two men were her boyfriend and son.
