On August 9, 2024, a heavy rainstorm struck Beijing, China, flooding the streets. People who were working found that when they got back to their homes in Changping after work, they had to wade through water. The rainstorm caused the drainage system in Beijing to collapse, with standing water on the streets reaching thigh-deep and roads being closed throughout the area.
