Hong Kong police have arrested two men for allegedly vandalising campaign materials for the coming Legislative Council election.

Police said on Saturday that officers found three vandalised election campaign posters hanging from the Tong Mi Road footbridge in Mong Kok on Thursday.
After an investigation, officers arrested two local men, aged 29 and 34, in Mong Kok on Friday on suspicion of criminal damage, the force said.
Police said the two suspects were being detained as part of the investigation.
“Police reiterate that the force will adopt a zero-tolerance attitude towards any attempt or intention to interfere with or disrupt the Legislative Council election, and make every effort to conduct investigations,” Inspector Yip Ho-lam said.

“Police will also do their utmost to enforce the law strictly and work closely with the public to ensure that residents can vote safely in the Legislative Council election on December 7.”
