A record-breaking heatwave has swept across much of China this summer, with several cities experiencing the highest temperatures in their history. On July 15 and 16, the top ten hottest places in China all recorded temperatures above 42°C. In Zhengzhou, Henan Province, the mercury hit a scorching 44°C, shattering a 280-year-old record.
