Data shows that from 2016 to 2025, the three Northeastern provinces lost a total of 10.51 million people—equivalent to the population of Harbin disappearing. Among them, Liaoning lost 2.07 million, Jilin lost 3.1581 million, and Heilongjiang lost 5.28 million. The population outflow is characterized by high education levels and whole-family migration.
