The staged sequence was a part of the 5-hour stress test involving 5,000 people at the stadium.

In under a minute, three medical staff rushed to treat the man, wrapping his leg with bandages and putting on an ice bag. An ambulance arrived shortly to rush the man to a hospital.

Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung said on Saturday that the swift execution of the exercises showed the effectiveness of emergency responders in dealing with various safety stressors. The entire process took merely 15 minutes.

This is the third exercise conducted at the facility, which included crowd entry and exit control, security checks and emergency response drills.

Lam Mak-ham, chief inspector with the Key Points and Search Division Major Events Bureau, said the main goal of the drill was to test the “coordination and cooperation between different departments such as the fire department, medicine and the stadium control centre”.
