Hong Kong airport tow-vehicle worker suspected to have been killed by plane

A tow-vehicle worker was found dead on the apron of Hong Kong airport early on Tuesday and was suspected to have been run over by an aircraft in a rare accident.

Police said they received a call from airport staff at around 3am that a man had been found unconscious at the West Apron.

Emergency personnel subsequently pronounced the 34-year-old man dead at the scene, the force added.

Hong Kong truck driver rescued by passers-by after vehicle overturns

A preliminary investigation found that the worker had been sitting behind the driver, 60, of the vehicle, which is used to tow planes at the airport.

The victim fell from the vehicle and was suspected to have been run over by a plane.

Police were investigating whether the plane involved was the one the vehicle was towing at the time.

The force has classified the case as a fatal traffic accident. The special investigation team of the New Territories South traffic unit is looking into the case.
