Citi appoints new head of financing, markets in Asia

Citi has appointed Ed Huntsman as head of financing, markets for Japan, Asia North & Australia and Asia South. Starting July 22, Huntsman has been assigned with developing Citi’s performance and strategy of fixed income financing solutions, according to a media release.

Citi’s fixed income financing practice offers a selection of funding options for both local and global financial institutions, corporates and governments.

Huntsman (pictured) joined Citi in 2007, and his appointment in Asia, where he will be based in Hong Kong, comes after his most recent role at the bank as global head of financing for spread products. According to the release, Huntsman “significantly grew” business lines across financing products and introduced several new financing solutions for Citi’s clients. Huntsman will continue these responsibilities in his new role.

Markets in Citi’s Asia South are Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, while its Asia North segment includes: mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan.

Paul Smith, Citi’s head of markets, Japan, Asia North & Australia, said in the release, “As liquidity becomes more important to our Asian based clients for both local and international needs, we need to be able to deliver a set of products across the full liquidity spectrum. With Ed’s expertise and track record, he is well placed to develop a best-in class financing platform that will support our markets clients’ liquidity and collateral needs.”

Sue Lee, Citi’s head of markets, Asia South, added, “Citi has a longstanding presence and extensive client relationships across Asia Pacific, many of whom are instrumental in fuelling growth across Asia and the rest of the world. Our clients value the strategic and comprehensive suite of Citi’s financing solutions and the unique strength of our global network.”
