At Wednesday’s forum for the New Territories North constituency, which covers the North District and Tin Shui Wai, all five candidates pledged to push forward the development of the Northern Metropolis.
The project located in the constituency aims to turn 30,000 hectares (74,132 acres) of land into an engine of economic growth and a housing hub.
Five candidates are vying for two seats in the constituency. They are Yiu Ming of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, Kent Tsang King-chung of the Federation of Trade Unions, Michael Liu Tsz-chung of the New People’s Party, district councillor Tam Chun-kwok and Wilson Shum Ho-kit, deputy to the National People’s Congress.

New Territories North is one of the two constituencies where both incumbents are stepping down. All five hopefuls for the open seats serve on the District Council.
